Junior thrower Jaxson Niente won the hammer throw with an NCAA provisional mark and junior Devon Schultz set a new school record in the pole vault to lead the Wayne State College men's track and field team Sunday at the Loper Invite held in Kearney. Brady Franzen was third in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 16:02.46, Braylon Chism had a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles at 54.34 seconds while Joe Dewald was fifth in 55.05 seconds.
Wayne State's next meet is Wednesday when the Wildcats travel to Yankton to compete at the Mount Marty Twilight Invitational.
