Nebraska's governor doubled down on his pledge to dramatically reduce property taxes and called for considerable cuts to state government Thursday, declaring Nebraska's "government remains too big at every level" in his annual State of the State address. Pillen revealed Thursday that his administration had transferred $274 million from more than 500 state agency cash funds to support property tax cuts. Those funds still have a combined $2.49 billion in them, he said — a sum that does not include $1.25 billion in the state's general and cash reserve fund.
