Nebraska Athletic Director Trev Alberts is leaving the school for the same job at Texas A&M. “I apologize in advance for any negative impact that it might have,” Alberts said.
Gov. Jim Pillen on Thursday blamed the University of Nebraska Board of Regents for the departure of Athletic Director Trev Alberts, calling it “unacceptable” that they have not yet named a successor to NU President Ted Carter.
Dennis Leblanc, a longtime leader inside Nebraska’s athletic department, will serve as interim director in the wake of Trev Alberts’ departure.
Trev Alberts expects coach Matt Rhule to make Nebraska football a contender. “Matt Rhule is the right coach at Nebraska and is going to be massively successful,” Alberts said.

“Now, more than ever before, we run a business and I know that’s really uncomfortable in our space, because that’s not why a lot of us got into this, right?”
After all of six months at Washington, Husky AD Troy Dannen is leaving Seattle for the job at NU.
The regents were months into their deliberations over who would be the university’s next president when a portion of the regents reached out to U.S. Rep. Mike Flood.
