Region 51 Emergency Management Director Brandon Myers took these photos just east and then north of Lincoln County's Jeffrey Reservoir the night of March 14-15, two days after the 129,253-acre Cottonwood Fire ignited and roared across southeast Lincoln and southwest Dawson counties.

The blaze, still smoldering Monday after 19 days, lapped the edges of the popular lake residential area and forced repeated evacuations.
