The Cottonwood Fire rages on in the Jeffrey Reservoir area the night of March 14-15 in this photo from the intersection of South Fletcher and Kaneb roads south of Brady. The blaze, still smoldering Monday after 19 days, lapped the edges of the popular lake residential area and forced repeated evacuations.
The historic March 12 wildfire in Lincoln and Dawson counties obliterated any evidence that could point to how it started, Region 51 Emergency Manager Brandon Myers told Lincoln County commissioners.
