Fire-blackened fields can be seen looking south toward Highway 30 from Kenny Taylor's farm at Cessna Road and 56th Street. Highway 30 is just past the grassy areas. The fire began just north of Highway 30.
The Easter Basket Extravaganza is one of their biggest fundraisers for Project Hunger. The money raised helps support their mission to feed the hungry in Central Nebraska. The agency provides food to area food pantries, provides a Sunday (and holiday) evening meal in Grand Island, and sends home over 200 food bags each week with area school students. They also provide over 1300 food baskets each Thanksgiving locally. The Easter Basket Extravaganza is a silent auction event on https://www.yapauction.com. Baskets are on display at First Presbyterian Church, 2103 W Anna, in Grand Island. In 2025, over 400 baskets were on display and sold to the highest bidder.
