KEARNEY — Growing up in his homeland of Venezuela, Carlos Rodriguez started running at age 3.
In the past, Carlos Rodriguez ran up to 30 miles at a time. After being pinned under a car he was working on in the driveway, he’s healing and recently ran 13 miles.

Lisvey Rivera and Carlos Rodriguez said their faith and marriage have been strengthened as Carlos recovers from being pinned under a car.
Lisvey Rivera rises at 2:30 a.m. every Thursday to prepare an average of 200 arepas stuffed with meat, cheese and other ingredients. Profits are helping pay Carlos Rodriguez' hospital bill.
A small painting reminds Carlos, Lisvey and their sons of the beautiful land they left behind to come to the United States in 2016.
A hanging on the wall in the Rodriguez home translates: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and faith.
The Carlos Rodriguez and Lisvey Rivera family has been through a lot during their eight years in the United States, but their sons are nearing adulthood, the couple is grateful for their jobs, and the family has a house in Kearney.
