02-20-1958 (cutline): Turnpick overpass opened--This new bridge on Chamberlayne Ave. over the Richmond-Petersburg Turnpike was opened to traffic yesterday. Motorists using Chamberlayne ad been detoured around the construction since last July. Nearly 200 tons of steel went into the six-lane bridge. The span is 60 feet wide and 140 feet long. The minimum bridge clearance above the surface of the turnpike is 14 feet 6 inches.

06-14-1955 (cutline): For downtown-bound strangers--Richmond's Traffic Engineering Bureau thought this sign at Edgehill and Chamberlayne Avenues might keep visitors headed for the downtown area from following routes around the business district. The sign is just north of other signs advising motorists that U.S. Routes 1 and 301 turn right at Lombardy Street.
