Over 200 athletes from 11 schools including Ashland-Greenwood High School, Raymond Central High School, Wahoo High School, Waverly High School and Yutan High School competed in the Unified Track and Field Meet at Ashland-Greenwood High School on April 28, 2021.

Students participated in running events like the 100 meter dash, 50 meter walk, 4x100 meter relay and 4x50 meter walking relay. They also competed in field events like shot put, mini javelin, discus and long jump.

The Special Olympics-sponsored event featured an opening ceremony with former Husker and NFL pro DeMoine Adams who is now a motivational speaker. At the finish line of the running events, Adams was found giving fist bumps to the athletes.

Managing Editor Suzi Nelson attended and photographed the event for The Ashland Gazette, Wahoo Newspaper and The Waverly News.
